I smell danger

I’ve been thinking about her – C, that is – for a long, long time. We only went out once, but as dates go it was really quite… something (well, you only have to follow the link in my last post to understand what I mean by that, I suppose) . And since then, month after month, I’ve been wondering why I let her slip through my fingers. And if I’m honest I’d have to say that she gave me every chance to change my mind. If you were to ask me why I didn’t, I’d say to you that I have no idea. But the truth is, I do have an idea. I smell danger.

Anyway, I was chatting to Zooz today, and she told me that I have to get in touch with her. Because, otherwise, I’d never know. And so, some time today when I gathered myself sufficiently, I sent her an email, just to tell her how much I’ve been thinking about her, and to thank her for keeping in touch. Oh, and to ask her if she’d have dinner with me.

She said…

Yes.

mmmmm... I can smell it all the way from over here, across the 'pond'. =)
I went back and got caught up and reread the posts to check up on you and the history. Sounds intriguing.
I think Zooz is right, you will never know unless you actually GO and find out.
Funny... I am actually finding myself in an "I smell danger" scenario too... I am almost afraid to post about it.
So, though, you inspired me to post and now I have no choice.
Stay tuned.
Oh, and, good luck, of course.

Wow, you took a leap now didn'tcha???

I hope it works out for ya...but I hope you're not jumping into this with your eyes closed....be alert, stay awake and pay attn. to the warning signs....
If she shows signs of GG incognito? Excuse yourself to the lil boys room and sneek out the window..and RUN Forest Run!!!!

And you my dear are starting the year off right - by eliminating those 'what if's'. Whatever comes of it at least you took the chance to find out what it may or may not be. Good luck.

A little bit of danger can be fun but you don't want another GG, so trust those instincts of yours. Have fun and enjoy your 2nd date with C!

Of course she said yes!

Holly came from Miami FLA.
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.

Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her leg and then he was a she
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
Said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side

Candy came from out on the island
In the backroom she was everybody’s darling

But she never lost her head
Even when she was given head
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
Said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls go

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo)

Little joe never once gave it away
Everybody had to pay and pay

A hustle here and a hustle there
New york city is the place where they said
Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said hey joe, take a walk on the wild side

Sugar plum fairy came and hit the streets
Lookin’ for soul food and a place to eat

Went to the apollo
You should have seen him go go go
They said, hey sugar, take a walk on the wild side
I said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
All right, huh

Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was james dean for a day

Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that dash
She said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls say

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)

well, that was one way of telling you to walk on the wild side. Do the streets of B.W. have a wild side?

Alas, I have no song to sing...

But I'm in agreement, you won't know if you don't try.

I told a guy once, "You have not, because you ask not." We always end up seeing each other, in our seperate lives, and just giving congrats on the newest event...but that chemistry is there. Ah well... Give it a go T!

Good chemistry is always dangerous T and that is what makes it so good that you crave it.

Good luck babe!

i am trying to reconnect with this guy from last year too, because of that little voice that says, there is a reason you are not forgetting this person, and your story has confirmed for me that i need to do this, even though its a little scary. call it virtual singles mentoring! And yes, let's compare notes this year over some wine, sounds fun.

Yay you!! I love it when we actually take a bit of the leap of faith and go for it, cause you know the old saying about regretting more the things we never try!! I'm looking forward to reading about it already :)

And BTW, danger can be QUITE fun!!!

I have no idea why but the sounds of bells ringing started in my head after reading "yes". I'm not psychic but it was so profound in my head that I had to write it in as my comment.

As my post-divorce therapist told me last week..."what's the worst that could happen?" It's scary when you meet that person with whom you have the chemistry that you've lacked with so many others. And yeah, you may get hurt (I think that's the worst case scenario in so many of our heads), but...if you never try, you never know. And like you, I am so damn tired of the "woulda, coulda, shouldas."

So, good luck on your date. I was hoping you'd write to say you'd found a way to reconnect. And maybe, before, you just weren't ready, there were things you needed to learn and it just wasn't the time. That happens, you know.

Is "I smell danger" a UK nice way of saying "I smell sex?" hehe

Good luck to you on your date! But I know you'll be fine!

Such an excellent way to start out 2006. I'm very proud of you for taking the chance. I hope you have a great time. You deserve it!

Cat, it's so exciting :-) - you'll be kept fully advised!

KOW - errr...

Trouble, thank you. No coulda shoulda woulda's over here.

LL - you're SO rude! I like it, though :-)

Anna... you're so sweet - thank you.

MG, I got a copy of your comment but it didn't appear on here... ? Still, I want to know more!

Well, I admire the 'take a chance' attitude, but I do wonder about a woman who "was physically ill" at the prospect of not seeing you again after ONE date. It should be very interesting to see how this one plays out.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Anonymous said...

Yoursecret, I actually said she was physically sick... meaning she threw up. Sick, over here, means vomit!!

Anonymous said...

Gotcha! That's what I thought you meant. Still seems like a mighty strong reaction after just one date. What DO you do to these women? ;-)

Anonymous said...

If I knew that, Yoursecret, I suspect I'd stop doing it... I honestly have no idea, although Zoozan (who knows me in real life) seems to have her own theories!

I am a big believer in the premise that you cannot regret something you do not do. If you don't do it, all you can do is wonder about it.

p.s. Lou Reed make a great mouth piece doesn't he. See song above.
